These 2 drawings are also part of my final drawing assignment due Monday 23rd. My sister said they look like "where's Wally" socks so that's what I've decided to call them. Supposed to be showing "foreshortening" using our legs/feet. Still got a bit of work to do before handing it in. "Issues in contemporary art" starts the week after next woohoo. No problem writing essays in 1 night but it's damn hard to get a whole portfolio done in the same space of time!

finger painting with washes of coffee, white acrylic paint & black ink on brown wrapping paper. i bought a sweet lil wooden sculpture from the new Vinnies on Glebe Pt. Rd on Saturday and did this on Sunday from it. soon discovered i didn't quite follow the brief correctly so it's back to the drawing board. was a bit strange using the good ole fingers to do this though. she is my coffee coloured queen.

Last month Haydn & I escaped to Phuket, Thailand for much needed time away from Sydney and it was absolutely glorious. Between massages, body scrubs, sight-seeing and swimming/snorkeling it was incredibly surreal. We also went to Phi Phi Island, one of the many highlights of the trip. Here are a few photos I took - I ended up taking 699 photos and about 15 videos in total but will probably end up getting a coffee table book done when I get the time. I love Thailand, I can't wait to go back there again. Now I am obsessed with drinking chai and lemon & ginger tea ^_^

some comments made on The Deer Republic:

"Their smooth blend of indie-rock is well crafted, but also has a pop sensibility meaning they will appeal to a wide audience. They would work well on a festival line up like Splendour and have wide reaching appeal across community and commercial radio." - Jade Harley, Managing Editor of The Music Network

"With their well crafted songs and hook filled lyrics, rock outfit The Deer Republic are a band worthy of their rising notoriety."
- Mark Bulgin, Marketing Manager MySpace.com / Fox Interactive Media Aus & NZ

"Their melodic, Indie Rock is bound to have instant mass-appeal" - Simone Stopford, Senior Manager, MTV Talent
and Artist Relations

"Sydney Represent! Thoughtful and melodic, The Deer Republic are handling their ‘up and coming’ tag with aplomb." - Kirsty Brown, Managing Editor of The Brag & Street Press Collective Rep

well done lil bro, i'm so proud of you ^_^

our whirlwind trip to the culture capital rejuvenated my spirit. the Dali exhibition was nothing short of wonderful - i never realised he had such a wonderful sense of humour. i was suprised at the scale of his works, much smaller than i had anticipated still it was delicious all the same. we also caught the John Brack exhibition which was equally as awe inspiring, i think he was a bit of a smarty pants also. i am filled with new ideas, now i just have to find the time to realise them x "oh darling give me one more chance/to show you that i love you/won't you please send me back in your heart"
